What Is Ortho Pedal™ & Why Was It Created?

Ortho Pedal™ is a Pennsylvania based company, located at the foothills of the Appalachia Mountains (with plenty of challenging climbs), and is owned and operated by Bill Moseley.

The company was created to help people with various knee conditions, overcome their inability to ride a bicycle, and enjoy the freedom of riding a bicycle once again, using a unique and innovative product called,  Ortho Pedal™

We are excited to offer a product that can solve bicycle exercising problems for so many people who desire to get back on their bicycles and ride.  And we love to hear your success stories even more!

Ortho Pedal™ is manufactured in the USA by machining high-grade aluminum alloy into an attractive shape, that easily bolts on to your existing bicycle.  You simply remove your existing  pedals, and thread the stainless steel bolt into your crank arm using the pedal hole.  You now have (4) different pedal settings available for you to set and adjust, according to your needs.

This product can reduce crank length up to 76 mm (3")
(24"/41 mm/59 mm/76mm)

It does not scratch or mar your cranks, and has nylon tipped stabilizer side bolts).

Made with high-grade machined aluminum alloy, with hand-crafted stainless steel bolts...making durable and built to last.

Installation in 10 minutes!

Who Can Benefit From The Ortho Pedal™?

The Ortho Pedal™ solves a problem many people with arthritis cope with, or people who have had knee surgery experience...the inability to ride a bicycle due to limited range of motion.  The problem is solved by reducing the amount of knee bending required, which is achieved by moving the pedals closer to the crank.  A smaller circle requires less motion and this can allow people with knee pain to exercise within their tolerance range of motion more effectively...while providing a cardio workout!   Ortho Pedal™ typically fit people with range limitations down to 60 degrees of flexion and 20 degrees of extension.  Many people who are planning  to have Total Knee Replacement Surgery  order them in advance to be ready to use when they come home after surgery.   There are many other types uses for Ortho Pedal™  including:  Leg length discrepancies,  physical disabilities,  adolescent racers,  adaptive sports participants,  etc....

Does The Ortho Pedal™ Fit Most Bicycles?

Yes...stationary; road; mountain; and recumbent.

What Is The Difference Between Both Models Of The Ortho Pedal™ (standard & wide)?

To determine which model to order, measure 2" up your crank, from the pedal.  The standard model fits cranks up to 1-1/8" wide (29 mm), while the wide model fits cranks over 1-1/8" and up to 1-3/4" wide (38 mm).  Stainless steel Allen bolts secure the pedal on each side, for a tight fit.

How Do You Install The Ortho Pedal™?

Ortho Pedal™ is an easy 10 minute installation.  The existing bike pedal is first removed with a 15 mm open end wrench.  The left pedal is a 'normal' left thread and the right pedal is a right thread  (this prevents the pedals from spinning off over time).   After removing the pedal(s) you simply place the Ortho Pedal™ over your crank arm and thread the supplied stainless steel bolt into the crank arm 'pedal hole' utilizing the supplied allen wrench.  Next, snug up the two allen bolts (on each side of the  Ortho Pedal™).   Last, thread your bike pedal into the Ortho Pedal.  Make sure the pedal bolts are tight and you are ready to ride!   As your ROM improves,  you can simply adjust your pedal to the next hole in 1-2 minutes.   (See installation instructions included with your order and call our tech line with any questions at:  610-451-3292

NOTE:  If you are not sure about your bike mechanical skills, take your Ortho Pedal to a local bike shop and they will be happy to install them for you.

Will The Ortho Pedal Damages My Bicycle Cranks?

No...the stainless steel pedal bolt secures the Ortho Pedal™ tightly, and the stainless steel (side) stabilizer allen bolts have nylon tips to prevent scratching your crank arm.

How Much Does The Ortho Pedal Weigh?

The Standard model weighs approximately 265 grams (per set)
The Wide model weighs approximately 295 grams (per set)

How Well-Built And Strong Is The Ortho Pedal?

This product is extremely well machined and designed to hold up to heavy use.   The stainless steel attachment bolt is the same size diameter as your existing pedal bolt and made for adult use.    We offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY against breakage from normal use  (Please view our “Warranty & Exchange”  page for more information).

Do You Ship Overseas?

Yes, we ship worldwide through the United States Postal Service.  Please note that any import duties, taxes or charges by your country are NOT included in pricing or shipping costs.

Should I Order Ortho Pedals Individually Or As A Set?

We offer both options to allow you to decide what is best for you.  If you only have one bad knee, you can order one Ortho Pedal™ for  $89.

HOWEVER, if your range of motion is limited to less than approximately 80 degrees, you should order a set of Ortho Pedal™.  This will allow you to raise the seat higher and still reach the bottom of the pedal stroke with your good leg. You can save money by ordering two at the same time for $149 (and save $29).

Or, if you need one, but are starting to have problems with the other knee (or hip) you will save money and have it ready to bolt on!
