I had bi-lateral knee replacements in Sept. 2011 at 63 years of age. Well I continued to lose ROM until I could no longer ride my spin bike let alone the street bike because of scar tissue and pain. Had lots of PT but OS never addressed the pain. Installed the Ortho Pedals® on my spin bike and I'm now doing 30 minutes a day on the lowest setting. Alaska has a short biking season, but WHEN I improve I plan to buy another set for my street bike. Your product is well made and I would recommend it to anyone. I hope this helps someone make the decision to give it a try and improve the quality of their life.

I must admit, living and working in Australia, I worried about ordering online, having not seen the pedals in the flesh. The first ride today only lasted about 5 minutes. Recovery from the TKR has been very slow. Even with much therapy flexion is about 95 degrees.Very painful to boot. The first ride really helped with flexion. About 5 hours later I tried again rode for about 2 miles.
When I returned to the house the knee felt the best it had since surgery. Getting into the open air on a bicycle is better therapy than riding a recumbent bike in a roomful of recovering people! After the 2 mile ride the flexion was 110 degrees. Cool !
Being outside on my bike shifts a persons focus from the knee to just riding. You work the knee more because the distractions of riding diminish the focus on pain. I will be on the bike everyday until I can get an increase of flexion. The knee may never flex to the extent prior to surgery, but damn I will get it to 120 degrees.

Let me say my knees are killing me. Why? Because pedals worked so well that I pushed my limits too much!
My cadence would never go above 75, even when peddling with my heel. With the Ortho Peddles I got up to 93 cadence.
As you well know, with flexion under 120 degrees our seats were not comfy because you have to choose knee pain or saddle pain. Now, both are good! Thank you Thank you

I received my Ortho Pedal® in the mail today! My husband put it on my spin bike, it fit perfectly, and I was able to exercise for 20 minutes for the first time in 9 weeks. I am so excited! My husband set it on the 'beginner' level as my bend, despite the millions of bending exercises I have been doing, is only 95 degrees (110 with PT pushing on it, so that doesn't count in my mind). Ever since I developed arthritis in my left knee eight years ago, my ROM dropped below 90 degrees and I have been unable to ride a road bike. Even riding a stationary bike during rehab was painful. I cannot thank you enough for this product! I found it randomly one night while searching for a solution to finally get back on my bike after 10 years.
A little back story. I was born without hip sockets on both sides. I have had numerous surgeries to correct the issues, and one of the surgeries found the doctors fusing my right hip, so I have no range of motion on my right side, from the hip.
After finding your product online, I stopped into a local bike shop here in Wisconsin, to see if they had heard of your product and to seek help on getting back on my bike. I spent 3 hours at the bike shop looking at different options and it turned out that your product seemed like it was going to work. I ordered my Ortho Pedal® from the bike shop and put a deposit on a bike. Several days later I returned to the bike shop and showed them the Ortho Pedal®. They were intrigued, put it on a bike, and put me on a trainer to make sure it worked.
For the first time in 10 years I was able to ride a bike thanks to your product. My wife said I had the biggest smile on my face because of it. Thanks so much for giving me the ability to ride again! If you have a bumper sticker, I would love to proudly display your product on my car.

I just received my Orthopedal, and attached it to my mountain bike crank. It is as easy as you said it would be to install (once you remove the rusty pedal bolt) and what a joy to be able to ride again. After having major surgery on my knee in August 2016 I was left with a limited range of motion in my right knee. Following extensive physiotherapy I could only manage to get 90 degree bend. My wife and I have been riding a tandem bike for some ten years and love it. I thought my tandem riding days were over until I searched the internet and found Ortho Pedal. We are now back on the tandem and regularly ride 70 to 80 Km's every weekend. I initially purchased the narrow model but recently purchased the wide model as well. Our intention is to do some more riding overseas and having the two widths will enable us to ride bike any where.

I was one of those people who was told for over a decade 'life will be so much better when you have your knee replaced', only to end up being one with very limited range of motion due to scar tissue. I sadly pushed my beloved bicycle into the corner and got fat and unhappy... until one day I started searching to see if maybe there was an electric bike or something that would work for me, and I stumbled upon the Ortho Pedal website. I CRIED WHEN I SAW THE VIDEO OF A PERSON WITH 85 DEGREES OF FLEXION RIDING A BIKE! I immediately contacted Bill and inquired about the product; got one ordered and had it installed. Recently my husband Jim bought me an adult tricycle and tricked it out with your wonderful invention. To someone who has been unable to exercise without limitations due to an injury and arthritis your Orthopedal is a God send. Because of a limited physical ability to exercise (even swimming is limited due to balance issue walking to the pool) I have developed many other health issues including a heart condition. My cardiologist has repeatly advised me to exercise or my condition will just get progressively worse. Being able to sit and pedal my new bike just may give me more time with my family. I had my second physiotherapy session yesterday so took my new cranks to show the Physio who is an avid cyclist. I had told him earlier about your cranks and as expected he was cautious about using them so early after surgery. After seeing them he gave me the green light to put them on and use them 2-5 minutes maximum per day. I went home and fitted them as per the instruction, mounted my bike on the wind trainer and rode for about a minute on the lowest setting. It was awesome to be doing this 16 days after surgery so thank you for an awesome product and for the exceptional service you provided.

Long story short. I threw on an old pair of bike shorts, after 7 years the elastic was shot, but I didn't care. Got on the Lifecycle and felt like a little kid. I had placed the pedals at the closest setting, jacked up the seat and had at it. Did the manual setting (level 1-3) kept the pedal RPM between 80-90 and lasted 40 minutes. A DVD of the Allman brothers Live at Great Woods really did help. What a feeling when I got off. The legs were a little wobbly, knees feel ok. It was nice to get the heart rate up and break a sweat. Thank you for having come up with this product. I was at the point where cycling was out of the question due to all of the loss of motion. I will tell whomever I can. Stay healthy and NOW... I can once again say... KEEP ON RIDING! Thanks again.

Just wanted to let you know I did receive the Orthopedals exactly when you said they would arrive. I easily installed them and rode all over the lake area when we went camping. I would not have been able to ride without your product. I believe in time I should increase my range of motion. My knees feel better already. I am only 52 years old and unfortunately too young for knee replacement, but it is what it is and I refuse to give up things I enjoy. Thank you very much for your awesome product! As a former triathlete and Ironman Louisville finisher, having both of my knees replaced at the age of 50, effectively took me out of the sport completely. Even after a great rehab I continued to lose small amounts of flexion in both of my knees. Riding my bike was extremely painful and I also had to adjust my seat way up and back, which is not very user friendly on the comfort level. After receiving my new Orthopedals I am totally amazed. The install took only minutes and I could pedal pain free for the first time in months. What a wonderful product. Without Orthopedal there is no doubt I couldn't ride our Tandem bike. After major knee surgery I only have 90 degrees bend in my right knee. Its Orthopedal that has gotten me back on our Tandem. We love the concept and simplicity of the design. It's simple and easy to fit.
